25 March 2014 - A new study has, for the first time, placed a value on the availability of non-prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) medicines to the Australian healthcare system, and assessed further potential benefits from wider access to non-prescription medicines.
The study found that each dollar spent on eight categories of the most common OTC medicines saves the health system more than four dollars.
