ASMI launches online induction course to build knowledge and promote QUM across the consumer healthcare industry
20 August 2013 - The Australian Self Medication Industry (ASMI) has today launched an interactive online induction course for the Australian Consumer Healthcare Industry. The first-of-its-kind online resource is expected to become an industry standard, ensuring high levels of knowledge, compliance and Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) promotion across the sector.
With five core learning modules, the ASMI Online Industry Induction Course will familiarise individuals and teams with healthcare regulations, medicine scheduling, marketing and advertising regulations as well as an understanding of the broader healthcare system, the pharmacy environment and the role of ASMI as the industry's voice.
The course is aimed at professionals working within the consumer
healthcare industry in fields such as sales, particularly those
dealing with pharmacy staff, regulatory, marketing and
communications and customer services. Advertising, public relations
and design agencies that support manufacturers of over-the-counter
products and complementary medicines are also encouraged to
undertake the training.
Commenting on ASMI's new professional learning programme, ASMI Marketing & Business Development Director, Ms Filomena Maiese, said:
"With so much reform within the healthcare environment, it is critical that industry professionals are up-to-date and familiar with the regulations governing the industry. The ASMI Online Induction Course has been designed to deliver a comprehensive overview of the Australian healthcare landscape and the marketing and advertising regulations underpinning the industry. By creating greater awareness and understanding, we serve to further promote QUM within our industry.
"Whether you are new to the consumer healthcare industry or simply seeking to update, expand or consolidate knowledge, this new interactive resource will provide the ideal foundation to increase your skills and confidence as an industry professional and is beneficial for ongoing career development. I am really excited that ASMI is able to deliver such an innovative platform for individual learning and development for the consumer healthcare industry."
