ASMI congratulates Dr Martin Cross, new Medicines Australia Chair

26 June 2013 - The Australian Self Medication Industry (ASMI) today congratulates Dr Martin Cross on his appointment as the new Chair of Medicines Australia, effective early November 2013.

ASMI has worked with Dr Cross on a number of industry issues over the years, particularly through the Medicines Partnership of Australia in which Dr Cross was a key representative during his tenure as Chair of the Generic Medicines Industry Association (GMiA).

Commenting on the new appointment, ASMI's President Mr Mark Sargent said:
"The members of ASMI would like to congratulate Martin on his new appointment as Chairman to the Board of Medicines Australia. Martin's extensive knowledge and experience means he is well placed to progress the strategic priorities of the innovative medicines industry.

"ASMI and Medicines Australia share a common goal in ensuring Australians have access to high-quality and affordable healthcare products that can improve health, prevent disease and manage illness. We look forward to continuing to work in parallel with Medicines Australia to encourage greater investment in high quality medicines, primarily through the provision of intellectual property protection for research supporting product innovation."
