Disposal of Unwanted Medicines


The Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Project enables consumers to return any type of unwanted or out-of-date medicine to any pharmacy.

The RUM Project has provided pharmacies throughout Australia with large yellow containers for collection of these returned medicines. The returned products are then transported for safe disposal.

This helps to save the environment by not disposing of these unwanted and out-of-date products in general waste, sewerage and other water options.

The RUM Project is supported by pharmacies across Australia and is funded by the Commonwealth Government.
